We are currently working on a Wakanda SSJS Module for handling CSV files in Wakanda, based on the Javacsv Java API .
This project is done under DA VINCI Coders club. The final API will be ready at the latest within a month( Because we still working in the JSLint compatibility). Then we will begin the development of Wakanda SSJS module for handling Excel files.

component use and adding entity to datasource (list/detail view) Wont save, NEED HELP!!

renaming project/solution, model etc without breaking anything

Started on a app project, but it was called "test", but it looks like I will be working next month on it and I would like to rename solution and project

What can I rename without breaking anything, something I haveto be carefull with?

If I want to have it started as a "new" project that has an empty database, is it just to delete the files in the data folder?

Formatting Date with hours, minutes and seconds

Hi,

is there a possibility to format an attribute typed as "date" with time like hours, minutes and seconds for example in a grid. In the doc there are only days, months and years described. The workaround to convert it into a string is no good idea because in Germany the order is dd.mm.yy so you cannot sort this column but that's important.

Hope you can assist me with understanding arrays, objects and variables,

I have created an object and populated it with data.

I can confirm the content by invoking length on the object and it returns 4 as defined.

min length and max length in model attribute

Perhaps I am misunderstanding how this works:

I have an attribute I have limited to 5 minimum and 10 maximum characters in the model. When I do a save in the browser, I get a pop up saying the attribute cannot go outside of these bounds, but I don't get an "onError" firing. This seems like it's against convention in Wakanda.

Am I missing something?

A custom Login returns the following attributes to currentUser():

I can get directory.currentUser().fullname. I CANNOT get directory.currentUser().storage.attrib_a.
Please give an example of referencing a storage attribute of the current User.

its very important for me that SSL is fully supported. At the moment there is no way to use on server side XMLHttpRequest with SSL and furthermore the connection between browser and server with SSL is obviously buggy. Can anyone estimate the time until these problems are solved?

Im trying some code in Wakanda, and need some help!

In index.html have a frame that start empty. When I click an option from menubar from index.html this frame will be load with an another html with the follow comands for index.js:

I have three machines XP,Vista and Win7 the studio just does not run on any of the machines. I can understand that there is no support for XP but what about Vista and Win7. Major Win7 cause win7 are all my production machines.

Solved Unicode characters in Web Component

Unicode characters which comes from Web component is interpretet as ASCII not utf-8. Everything ok with index html and I think Component itself it is broken when section tag is filled from component.

The page layout can be built using fields/widgets that can be associated with a datasource be it a variable or an object,

say I have a text field = textField0 as the page title, I wanted to have variable source named pageTitle that would be updated programatically and on page load the data it contains to be shown on the page.
When I move to another page, then the onload will update this datasource and the page will contain right page title.
Have read on the sync() operator but not sure how this round-trip works, any pointers would be appreciated.

Also on the same scenario, how would I update the datastore/variable content? There was a thread where someone suggested you use jQuery

So you can handle the stamp if someone else manages to same it just after you loaded it...

getParents() bug?

I have groups in the directory: AccountOwner and Manager

Manager "includes groups" has account owner checked.

Ben is a user who belongs to AccountOwner.

When I run this code:

aGroups only has one element for Ben, AccountOwner. Based on the description of getParents() in the docs, with false passed I should get AccountOwner and Manager since AccountOwner is included in Manager.

If I use var aGroups = directory.group('AccountOwner').getParents(); I get the expected results.

Is this a misunderstanding on my part or a bug?

Using wak2 dev, dunno what build, the one from 10 mai I guess, didnt build number show under the "about" dialog?

But notice on the app I was building I cant select the rows I want with "contrl" button down, only "shift" button.

I have a plan to build a CRM for my industry(Broadcasting/Media) where I can use my expertise as well as contacts but I have less expertise in the software development as a function. I generally use my developers to build things on asp.net/mysql, etc. After going thorough the webcasts and documentation, thought why not WAKANDA. Even though I am not sure about features like Multiple tenant kind of setups using wakanda.

You guys think its a good idea to put some efforts using wakanda to build a prototype considering the current wakanda roadmap(2)?

Your suggestions are very important to me.

No New Project Template when trying to create new project.

In a similar thought path of getScope(), I would like to get the permission group attached to the 4 data actions of a class. Could return an object with each group name. Allows me to write more flexible code rather than hard code my permission group names into scripts.

Differently formatted entities returned by datastore class methods

A datastore method returns an entity to the client.
Dependant on returned object type, formatting of the returned entity is different.

If return type is an entity, everything is fine.

If return type is custom object, the entity format contains less information and throws an error if passed to sources.classname.setCurrentEntity on the client.

This server method works fine (return type: entity);
new_Webuser = ds.Webuser.createEntity();
new_Webuser.Name = login_name;
new_Webuser.Email = login_email;
new_Webuser.Password = login_password;
new_Webuser.save();
return new_Webuser;

This returns a stripped entity (return type: object):
Same as above except entity is a custom object attribute:

entity: null, // new added entity
error_text: '' // error text if new Webuser could not be created
};
new_Webuser = ds.Webuser.createEntity();
new_Webuser.Name = login_name;
new_Webuser.Email = login_email;

Result on client is in result.entity.
On the client, the entity contains less information (debugger), for example 'touched' and other attributes are missing which gives the impression that it is in "server format" as opposed to "client format".
The different format breaks sources.classname.setCurrentEntity (throws runtime error).

Question: Bug?
or do I have to reformat the entity on client with some unknown method?

I have a workaround, so this is not mission critical, but interesting to know.

Chart Widget - array as data source?

Hi,

With Wakanda 2.111554 it's quite simple to assign a datasource based on a class to a line bar chart widget.
Using an array as data source seems to fail, Chrome+Firefox reports that the script does not respond anymore.

The same array as data source for a grid widget works fine.

The array is build like this:

setRenderer() return the entity ID

Question: Can I define my own "global to server application" functions and if so, what is the syntax?
(Without workaround of datastore class methods)

More Keyboard maneuvers on grid

Arrows up and down, enter to select and entity, shift enter to multi select - things like this. Would like to be able to work with a grid without touching my mouse.

Maybe adding events based on keys would be something to consider. Would love to have the grid jump to an ordered item based on letters typed.

Passing the related class entity to class method

but with binding a person/company I would do it with the .set()

but if I want to pass the method 5 companies relation to set without querying the company, is that possible?

Dont see the need for querying, since the user will have selected the companies allready...

Datasources with multiple filters

Datasources are great! Each contains an entity collection - perfect. But there are many times when I want to work with the same datasource, but different entity collections. Maybe there should be another level called filters?

The entity collection specifies the base group of entities. This is where permissions etc get invoked.

The filter allows you to assign a certain subset of that datasource's entity collection to a widget.

Why? It would allow you to easily have values in different filter groups update when bound to a base entity collection. You could have different areas of your app update without needing to make a round trip to the server.

This would be most important when / if Wakanda implements a disconnected mode.

There are just a lot of cases where what you really want is the same underlying datasource, but a different displayed subset of entities. This need is proven with the reduceToSelected() function in the grid. It's virtually the same thing except the filter is decided with a manual selection not a query.

Solved Grid manipulation with onRowDraw

Ok. I like the way grid widget is constructed and so on, but being crazy by nature I want to modify it a bit :RpS_wink:
Say I want to have it's cells with two rows inside. Best what I was able to think is onRowDraw event for this. After I took a look at it I found this:

And is this way of modifications acceptable and what alternatives exists? Thank You.

Hi,

with my own solution (I want to go live this week) and also tested with the Business Expenses Sheet template I found this strange behaviour:

When there exists a 1:n relation between two classes and you select an entity from the 1-Class so the joined entities of the n-Class are displayed in the grids.

This only! works without SSL. When using SSL the page etc. is displayed but only the 1-Class is displayed and no request for the n-Class occurs.

Combo Box Problem on Web Component

Hi everyone, I have been trying out Wakanda (V1 Live Release Build 106406) 64 Bit for a few days now. I must say that I do enjoy the productivity achieved through the easy yet powerful Wakanda Architecture; as compared to other web development platforms/frameworks. Kudos to the Wakanda team for creating a wonderful development tool.

On a sadder note, I hope someone can point me in the right direction with a problem I am facing. It has to do with the use of a combo box to display a listing on a form. The value of the selected item on the combo box should be saved to the related attribute (which is a datastore class) on the form, once a user clicks a save button. Attached is a snap shot of the relationship between my classes.

And here is a snapshot of my combo box properties. My source in ( which is AllowancePayer) works fine when I run it without a source out. It is when I try to add a source out that I have problems.

When I run my application with a source out, I start getting the following error on Chrome "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'addListener' of undefined" and on Firefox using Fire bug I get "thisDS is undefined ...

I must also mention that I am doing this on a web component which then gets loaded into the standard index page of the web application.

I don't know if maybe I am doing something wrong or if this is some kind of bug. I have gone through the Doc section and the forums and I still can't figure this one out. I would appreciate any assistance given.

I've decided to take step one towards launching my startup. The public view initially will be pretty much zero, but I'm going to be charting my experiences and findings along the way in Blog format:

I am based in Canada and plan to post a lot on the business side of things as well, so some things will be specific to my location.

Will be working towards a fully featured software package to manage the business of a real estate sales person. My goal is to dedicate 2hrs per day towards the project, but this may vary drastically!

Equivalent to ToggleButtonBar

Is there a way to have the menubar acting as the Flex ToggleButtonBar i.e. when you select a menu item, it remains selected even if you click elsewhere (apart from another menu item obviously:RpS_tongue:)? And, consequently, access a "selected menu item"?

Behind that, my goal is to know on which view I am, all my views using the same 'mainContent' component on the interface page. Again, maybe I'm wrong to mimic Flex states functionality so again I need your guidance :RpS_biggrin:

I am looking for a push method. That means an event at the server should cause an event on client (like changing a textfield when for example a limit of a number of entities is exceeded etc.). As I see using websockets in HTLM5 (in Firefox 6-10 its named "MozWebSocket") can do this, at Wakanda there is the NET-Module which may handle this. But I have no experience to build up a websocket communication between Wakanda Server and a browser. Has anyone an idea how to do this?

onCollectionChange Event for a datasource in a webcomponent

In my project, I've created two web components for my interface page. The first one is a search form 'searchF', the second is a view 'searchV' that contains a text and a grid to display the results. My goal is to display the text first and, as soon as I get the results, switch to the grid.My process:
- in 'searchV' js file, I hide the grid in this.load. The grid is linked to a global datastore class based datasource called 'result' with a onCollectionChange event function to toggle text and grid.
- in 'searchF', I just call a JSON-RPC service that initializes the Result datastore on the server side and. With the 'onSuccess' on the client side in 'searchF' js file, I refresh datasource with : sources.result.all()

The problem is that onCollectionChange function is never called (I did a console.log to check it) for searchV. However, if I create a onCollectionChange function in the interface page, this function is called. So I guess the problem is related to catching an event in a web component for a global datasource.

So, I hope someone can help me with that. Besides, do I manage the process in a proper way or is it a better method to accomplish such a goal? Last question : where are datasources created in the code? Because, if the view doesn't exist yet when I perform the search, I get an error in Firebug because result doesn't exist (even if the scope is global, I guess the datasource is only defined when the webcomponent is loaded, which seems to be logic and consistent) and I have to declare it either in searchF or in the interface page.

Hide private attributes in derived data classes

It would be nice if the data model editor hid attributes marked 'private' in base classes from showing in derived classes. As it is, I find myself clicking the 'remove' checkbox for attributes in derived classes just to provide a way to hide them in the editor even though they will be inaccessible at runtime anyway.

Now for all custom styles I have to use absolute path which starts with / and I can edit it and remove / so I will have relative path.
instead this:

Wakanda Instead of Framework?

I've been using Joomla for the past couple of years, but I'm now looking for a more flexible development system. I've been comparing PHP frameworks like CodeIgniter, CakePHP, and Symfony.

Then I discovered Wakanda.

I'm still figuring this all out. But in general, would you say that Wakanda can be used instead of a framework? Or would Wakanda integrate into a framework like Codeigniter?

Monitoring events on server

I want to listen to a serial port of a barcode scanner attached to my server, create an entity when an item was recognized. After that the user in front of his browser should get an notification about the entity saved in this moment. Anyone an idea? I think it is not very difficult when having one user, but when there are more than one user?? An other similiar problem could be to inform (many) users about an incoming call. If the solution is "polling", what is the best way to do this?

I want to share data across multiple websites (foo1.com, foo2.com� foo1000.com but not toto.com). In Flash/Flex, there is a cross-domain policy which uses a crossdomain.xml file very easy to manage. I can not find the same approach in Wakanda. Perhaps another method? Help welcome.

So, Wak2 is in its stabilization phase, which is a good thing.

For me now its time to think about Wak3 (as Wak2 is missing some of the features I urgently need).

Having a look at the Feature List there are quite some nice things mentioned for future implementation. Do you have already some ideas what will be included in Wak3? and, any ideas on timing? (there have been already some threats and it was guessed by Greg that it could be October timeframe?!?!)

Now, (in order to be a bit pushy :-) ) here is my ideal List for V3:

Wakanda Server / NoSQL Object Datastore:
- Backup & Journaling
- Inheritance enhancements

HTTP 1.1 Compliant Server:
- Virtual Folder (actually not quite sure what this means... I was dreaming about storing all Wakanda designer related files in the database and such hiding source-code?)
- Web Sockets would be nice but not necessarily in W3...

SSJS APIs:
- PDF Generation... urgently needed. In ideal case a html Page should be converted 1:1 to PDF (of course with the exception that all elements which have a scrollbar will automatically be enhanced in such a way that they show all elements. It would be then in the responsibility of the page creator to design printer friendly pages)

Wakanda Framework / Global Features:
- Internationalization.... urgently needed

Widgets:
- Tree Widget ... urgently needed (although I still hope it will make it in V2..... I know I know...... it was already stated that it will not...)

So..... keep up with the speed! I still love the framework and thats exactly the reason why I can't wait to get my urgently needed topics covered....

-should be sample on how to get sum from related class collection (sum)
On Query: When the attribute is queried.
-should be sample on how to query attribute that is calculated from related collection (sum)
On Sort: When the attribute is sorted.
-should be sample on how to sort attribute that is calculated from related attribute (sum)

could be company class, and a persons class where the persons class have total income or something

The more samples there are on different database model stuff, the easier it is for people to get started on some simple ide's

I would like to know if there is a plan to build Routing system within Wakanda system that the URL are governed by a Routing table rather than by physical pages in the directory?

The routing will allow to be able to change the physical file name or even route to another page, and the URL that users have booked-marked would remain the same. Also, people do not see or know the actual page name.

Server performance and the debugger, a mistake I made

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share with you a somewhat embarrassing mistake I was making. Knowing human nature, you may have also done this... so here goes.

I have a dedicated box as my public server. To launch my Wakanda app on my production server I was using a remote desktop tool, loading studio and clicking start server... easy right? Yes, but not a good idea.

You can turn the debugger off in studio, but the best practise in my mind is to load wakanda server and use the admin panel. It can be accessed at http://youripaddress:8080...

Start your server with this method and in the tests I performed, you will increase performance 10X... easy, how did I miss this?

On this same topic... you will want to add a user to the admin group to access the panel, or ensure the default admin user has a secure password.

a) Does the engine spend time to calculate each "calculated" attributes automatically, every time an entity is fetched or updated or created?

b) Does this "time spent" gets longer as the number of "calculated" attributes increases per entity? For example, if I have 1 Calc attributes v.s. 10 calc attributes, will it be 10 times longer?

c) What are the guidelines for using and not using Calc attributes?

Splitter Anchor Origin

The splitter should have an anchor origin option. Vertical splitters right or left, Horizontal splitters upper or lower.

What this would do is specify which side of the window it takes it's position from. As of now, there is no easy way to have a thin splitter on the right side of the page, when the browser is resized, it grows. This can be solved now programatically, but think it's a natural option to add in the size & position area.

Best practice to use a time attribute in a class

Hi everybody,

I ask myself what the best practice for an use of a time attribute in a class. Because wakanda let us use a date attribute that can contain a time, but in the display we can't use a time format to display the time. And sometime we don't need a date but only a time.

The solution I choose is to use a simple string attribute and select the time with combo box and then build my time string : "10:45".

I think it is not the best practice so maybe any of you have ideas?

I have posted WAK0076509, WAF fires onAttributeChanged for all attributes when using sync(). This bug is classified as 'normal behaviour'. When this is so, I think the event has to be renamed into "perhapsOnAttributeChanged" :RpS_love:

Can'tquery 4D connected datastore

When trying to reload models after changing a dataclass in v2 (2.110880) on my table named "Kunde" with a primary key named "id" the debugger comes up with the line "model.Kunde.ID" and the error: can't find variable: model. What is going wrong. I can reproduce this behaviour with a newly built project. I saw the same error when trying to verify the class with the new maintenance page.

Client / Server Communication Gotchas

I've got a couple of Pages I am developing... continuously adding features.

I have existing client-side features which use sync() to datasources. These features have and should work perfectly, yet I continue to be plagued by unreliability in what appears to be client / server connectivity. I understand Wakanda is not yet production-ready and that 'intermittent connectivity' appears to be a continuing issue.

I would like to gain an understanding of what the connectivity Gotchas are and IF there is anything I can do (from this end) to reliably trouble-shoot and reliably re-gain fluid connectivity. If, on the other hand, there are root causes that are beyond my opportunity to address, I would like to know that (and patiently wait for a fix).

What is clear, however, is that I have features that SHOULD and HAVE worked... and I have done *nothing* to break them. Plus, I have closed browsers (Safari, Firefox) and rebooted; used the Beta 1 build (Wakanda-All-in-One-Beta-v1-106406); used the latest Developer Build (Wakanda-All-in-One-Dev-110910).

My point being, I would like to refine my productivity by 'letting go' of issues beyond my control; while chasing those that I can either fix or help someone else fix.

Appreciate all comments.

Just starting to try out Wakanda.

To display a modal dialog (own Webuser Login Dialog and modal dialogs in general):
Load component in container at runtime.

3 ways:

1st: Draw container widget on main page in exactly the right size and at a fixed position.
Advantage: easy.
Disadvantage: clutters the editor.

2nd: Draw small container widget where it is out of sight during layout.
Resize and position at runtime.
Advantage: No clutter during development. Best size and position may be optimized.
Disadvantage: Slightly more complicated, slight risc of different browser behaviour

3rd: Container widget is created in DOM "on the fly" (not defined in editor).
Advantage: No clutter, may be most flexible to handle modal dialogs.
Disadvantage: More work.

How Do you handle modal dialogs in general?

But sometimes you need to add a style to an element that cannot be added with the Wakanda property dialog. Adding your own custom style sheet is a much better practice than modifying the default css files.

Changes to web page do not refresh when I run it

...anytime the Studio columns display is changed, this also will affect the displayed values of your final html page...as well as those constraint values T, B,L,R...

I would suggest that our own defined html values may not be affected
by the general studio displaying behaviour but remain FIXED once for all !

Solved Tab content size set to 0

in Wakanda Studio 2.0, build 110880 I have tabview with 2 tabs. One contain matrix and second grid. When I set matrix size and run app grid is not visible and vice versa. It looks good in designer but I close html file, open it and I see that grid/matrix size(width,height) is 0.
I guess it's bug.

Hosting, features and a small example

I am hoping for some thoughts on the following.

1. Hosting : do Wakanda apps need a special hosting platform, or can they be hosted by most average hosting companies (similar to php apps)?

2. I was watching a you tube tutorial on Wakanda (I don't think it was by Wakanda themselves), and I noticed the widget list in the tutorial included a few widgets that I don't have (I downloaded the 64bit windows version a few days ago - Version 1 Live Release build 106406). I saw a Tab View, Google maps and Yahoo weather. I think there were some more. Can anyone explain this?

3. Being totally new to java script, I tried to simply change the text of a text widget by adding some code to the on click event of a button. I could not get this to work. What code is needed to do this? And is this done in an ajax way, or is the page reloaded to display the new text?

Thanks for any thoughts. Wakanda looks amazing and I'm looking forward to learning more.

Next (Button Action) fails to advance

I have a Class Collection of 79 entities.

When navigating through the collection via a normal Auto Form (or via the Data Browser in v2), I reach a point at the 10th entity in the grid, where the Next button (the forward arrow on Auto Form) does NOT advance any further.

This happens regardless of which attribute (column) the grid is sorted by. Thus, it is not a specific entity; rather it is always the 11th entity which I am unable to navigate to. There are 8 attribute columns in the grid.

Interestingly, I can navigate 'backwards' from any point in the collection.

Another caveat, I am unable to Export the data from the Data Browser, in v2. I have 2 other Classes which I can successfully export; just not this specific class.

It would appear to be an indexing problem. Is there a way to repair the indexes? These 79 records represent quite a bit of data entry and I would love to NOT have to re-enter (for future needs).

Integration with Freshbooks (video and blog)

I've made a short video and small sample library that demonstrates how this integration can take place using the CommonJS modules Wakanda provides. If there is enough interest I would consider finishing up the library

A query/datastore method to perform "group by" operation

eoLogin widget appeared under Widgets in Studio.

I am new to Wakanda and tring to create a custom widget.

I just copied the login widget as eoLogin
made necessary changes to config and constructor files.
Changed loader.js and guidesigner.html...Worked fine . New widget by Name : eoLogin appeared under widgets.

When dropped on window...borders rectangular were not seen!!!!!?

Now I added 4 attributes to configuration file and made necessary changes constructor file as shown below.

Hi everybody,
I'm new to Wakanda and I'd like to know if this process is correct. The goal is to fill a combobox with data (agencies) from another http server :
- I've created a model class 'Agency' for the data in MyProject.waModel
- I've created a combobox on my 'index.html' page with a datasource 'agency' from 'Agency'
- I've created a js file in a rpc directory. In that file, I have a 'getAgencies' function. In that function, I create a XMLHttpRequest, and in the 'onreadystatechange' handler, I remove everything from ds.Agency, loop through the request result and create agency one by one.
- I load the 'getAgenciesAsync' method in 'documentEvent_onLoad'

So, it works, but is it the best way to achieve such a goal?

I wanted to include trailers to my database and so i found the video widget. Really nice ! BUT... :D.

How i wanted to make it:

i click on a new Entity like Harry Potter or something and then the video widget shows the trailer of Harry Potter.

With this Url "http://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=search&list=" you can show your querys.

Example:
myYoutoubeLink = "http://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=search&list=" + sources.movie.title + "Trailer german";

But where can I add this Url?
I can only add the id of the video. And this Id is unknown in the first place.

I would like to know if it possible to use browser back button when I use webcomponents.
Does wakanda solve this?
For example if I have webcomponent with list of user. I select user and load webcomponent with user detail. It's not possible to press back button because it's always same page. Is there some solution or it's not possible? Maybe change url when I load component so it can save it in history?

Be sure to read David Robbins' blog post about the Paid Time Off application made in Wakanda, which we are planning to use in our own US offices.

Even though it is far from complete, we thought the code would be interesting for others to see. At this stage, we have focused on the server side data model and user/groups management. We haven't spend much time on the front-end, user experience and we'll be moving on to this soon, along with session management, user specific cues and dynamically enabled widgets. For the moment, we have the basic screen forms and layout.

So, just like sticking your fingers in a mixing bowl of cookie dough, before it's gone in the oven, give this a taste and let us know if it's helpful and on the right track. Or, what clever additions and code might you make?

Image sometimes does not display/load or cut off on 2G RAM Linux Server

I am facing some weird issues with some images on my web site. Sometimes the images did not load dynamically and sometimes when the web page is refreshed, the image just cutoff. It sounds to me like a cache issue. 2G RAM should be far enough as recommended by Wakanda.

I did not face any issues on Windows 7 with 8G RAM. Image size is around 18 KB and it is displayed based on drop down selection. I used image widget.

Are there some project settings (cache, etc.) I should change?

Wakanda Live 1 was used.

Any clue?

Form don't show data on a remote server

I'm lost. I try many changes, many tests, but I don't know what's happening. I create a solution with many pages, and in my computer (Mac OS X, 10.7.3), it's run without problems. But when I upload the files for a remote server (Linux Ubuntu 10.10, 2GB ram), forms don't show any data. Grids work's fine. I'm using a normal form, but autoform don't show data too.

I using Dev-v2-110778.

Matrix autofit

I have matrix with many forms so screen height is not enought. Matrix has it's own scroll. But I don't want this. Instead I want to have only one scroll in window.
Using matrix autofit property should set size depending on items count. But it doesn't work. There is always scroll.
Is it bug or standard behaviour? how to solve it, so there will be only window scroll?

I have webcomponent with custom css. I add custom.css to manifest and content looks like this:

When I change something in html page e.g. color, manifest is modified and custom.css disappears.

Solved Frozen Webfolder ..any command to free that ?

Strange, anything working fine last nite, except longer shutting down.
Today I�m unable to infold and fold the Webfolder or others (media lib)
to go arround this I create a new desktop page:
- Webfolder than unfold display all existing components.
- unable to open the media lib.
Tried to place folders on top, works but doesn�t normalize things..

Am I missing something about un/freezing the folders display ?

Hi,
Beautify code feature is very usefull. I think it will be good improvement if it will be format also locked code. E.g. if you have generated few events, event structure is formated and locked. But when you try format code, you have to select just entered code. If generated code is selected it formats nothing.
So it should format code also if generated code is selected. Also when nothing is selected, it should format all content.

CSS for complex widgets

Take a Widget like a text input with a label. So you can generate separate styles for the label and the container using the context menu with the mouse, but for the next widget you can assign only 1 style for the widget in all. I think it is necessary to assign a style for each part of my widget.

Repair corrupt database

In my test database, I am seeing some inconsistent stuff. The db appears corrupt. Somewhere I saw that Wakanda is going to include some tools to repair the db. In the meantime, if I delete ALL of the entities, and re-import the data, should this have a beneficial effect on any existing problems?

Best Way to Modify Collection via Client

I'm attempting to fully grasp the methodology and paradigm of the 'Client' relative to the data on server. Wakanda has so many cool features built-in, it is tempting to *assume* functionality that is not present. Towards that end, I ask: What is the most expedient path to updating an attribute within an entity collection?

On the server side, the following works (via a js file run in Studio):

I have a JavaScript background and I am wondering if there is a way to see the source code of the data classes I am defining in the Studio. Reason for this is that sometimes I'd rather edit the source code directly.

As an add on, we keep our source in a Git repository and we would like to be able to merge changes between different team members.

CommonJS Inheritance Debugging bug/issue (Debugger bug?)

I'm not sure if this is a problem w/ my use of CommonJS Inheritance or the debugger just gets lost. The code works properly - this is an issue with the debugger usage.

Background: I'm using a Simple Javascript Inheritance from http://ejohn.org/blog/simple-javascript-inheritance/, the JQuery author.

The code works properly but when debugging, the debugger is not able to follow the inheritance chain. Makes it very difficult to continue building my project.

To Reproduce:

Create new blank project
Unzip attached into project at level of WebFolder
Bring up scripts/play.js in editor
Run file and confirm no asserts fail
Step into client.create and try to step into super class getTagXML (debugger gets lost)
Set break point in modules/inheritance/HttpClient.init (debugger doesn't break)

Technologies used: Just in case someone is looking for how to do these things (took me quite a while and so hope to save some time for others)

The instruction at 0x05842a33 ref. memory at 0x0000034d. The memory could not be writte.
click OK to terminate program.

I had just entered a wrong concatention funcion using Attribure / property / OnGet.
Function syntaz was - very wrong - (I checked after that) was sort of
....this.attribute = hour+":"'+minutes
(I deleted the line to replace with apropriate syntax since)
Steps:
I Deleted the 3 symbols files...
Corrected the syntax in Wamodel.js
...the solution still Crash an wont run anymore LOL :)

Hi Guys,

I have recently downloaded Studio to my Mac running Lion.

Everytime, I try to run it, it will show up in the task-bar for a minute and then disappear.
I have searched the forum and saw another user with exactly the same problem, but there was no solution listed.

I have : Downloaded and tested version 1 and 2 multiple times with no luck.

I am at a real lose to understand what is going on, any support appreciated.

I tried many tools and this one is extremely good value. The pro account is only $12/yr. which allows editing or you can record without editing for free. It's also all from the browser using Java.

It may not be as robust as other offerings, but it's 1/20th the price, or free and offers enough features to satisfy almost all screencast focussed users and is cross platform.

Here is a little tutorial to show you how to create your own Wakanda extension.

I got the idea after using the JSLint extension. I found on Douglas Crockford website another cool tool named JSMin http://www.crockford.com/javascript/jsmin.html which could be very handy to make faster website.

So I decide to create an extension to minify javascript source code in Wakanda, based on Douglas Crockford tool.

The first point is that original source code is written in C. I could of course compile it on both Mac and Windows, then use a system worker to launch the application. :RpS_sad:.

Hum.... before doing that, let's see if someone has not translated this source code in javascript :RpS_tongue:
